Affiliate & Part-Time Faculty

Type of Benefit: After one year of continuous part-time or affiliate employment as an instructor at The Chicago School, Affiliate and Part Time Faculty will be eligible for  a tuition waiver benefit on a space available basis, as specified within this policy.  Adjunct Faculty and Part time staff are not eligible for this benefit.

If separation occurs, the tuition benefit will be pro-rated to the time of the Affiliate and Part Time Faculty’s departure. 

Effective Date:  Affiliate and Part Time Faculty are eligible for the Tuition Benefit after one year of continuous part-time employment.

Education at The Chicago School

Affiliate and Part Time Faculty may apply as to enroll in TCS courses as either “Students at Large” or “Degree-Seeking Students” and are subject to all applicable academic policies.  Affiliate and Part Time Faculty may receive a tuition waiver for a maximum of 3 credit hours per semester regardless of the program and whether the courses are taken for credit or audit.  Registration fees will be waived as well.  Only tuition and registration fees are waived.

  • Affiliate and Part Time Faculty must apply to The Chicago School at his/her own expense.
  • Part time status will be defined by the Affiliate and Part Time Faculty contract.
  • Tuition for a maximum of 3 credit hours per semester and registration fees will be waived.
  • Affiliate and Part Time Faculty are responsible for the cost of educational materials (textbooks, etc.).
  • Affiliate and Part Time Faculty must gain written permission from his or her respective Department Chair prior to enrollment as well as the Chair of the department in which the course is taken, if needed.
  • Affiliate and Part Time Faculty must be under contract while taking the course.
  • Approval for a specific class is dependent upon space availability.  An Affiliate and Part Time Faculty utilizing the tuition waiver benefit may not displace a paying student.
  • Affiliate and Part Time Faculty must register for courses that meet outside of assigned work hours. 
    • If the courses are limited to times within working hours, Affiliate and Part Time Faculty must receive further written permission from their Department Chair.
