Driving Directions:
From north or south, take Lake Shore Drive to the 47th Street exit. Drive east under the railroad tracks (approx. 1 block) and turn right (north) at the first light, Lake Park Ave. Proceed north for four blocks and you will see Jackie Robinson on your right, across from One-Stop Groceries. The main doors face north and are on Lake Park Ave, as is the gated parking lot. There is no cost for parking.
Public Transportation:
From TCS, take CTA Green Line Train southbound to 43rd CTA transfer to CTA bus #43 (43rd Eastbound) to 43rd and Greenwood and walk .1 mile North. (Total travel time is approximately 30 minutes.)

Description of Organization
The daily program, run Monday through Thursday at Jackie Robinson School, begins at 2:30 with homework help, beginning reading groups, computer projects and other academic activities. Groups on different topic areas including, but not limited to, life skills, diversity, career exploration, writing skills, etc are offered to the children. A meal is provided to all of the children as well as supervised gym time.
Type of Project(s)
- Tutor/Mentor
Student will provide homework help, assistance with reading, oversight of the computer room, and other academic support to children. Students may gain the opportunity to help lead groups to youth in 4th grade and above. Overall support of the program is helpful in monitoring the gym activities and helping to coordinate cooperative games.
Organizational Requirements

- Monthly 1 hour reflective seminar attendance (Sept – May)
- Topic Seminar attendance (1 hour – 1 per semester)
- Regular days and times committed to (i.e. Tuesdays & Thursdays from 3-6 p.m.)
